Tips for a Successful Presentation
Day of your presentation:
Avoid clothing that is all-black, all-white, or busy patterns
Avoid jewelry/necklaces to avoid mic noise
Button-up shirts, jackets, and blazers work best for attaching a lapel mic
Bring backups of your slideshow just in case (USB, link to cloud)
Upon arrival for your presentation:
Check in with the AV team prior to your presentation to be miked up
Lapel mics should be clipped 6-8 inches below the chin; hold handheld mics 2-4 inches from your mouth
During your presentation:
Avoid reading off the screen (there should be a small screen in front of you for you to see your slides)
Project your voice! (AV crew can always turn you down, but it's hard to turn up a soft voice)
Avoid touching or turning the lapel mic or fiddling with the pack
